Wow, I had completely forgotten about kids staying home from school the day after The Day After. Nuclear war with the Soviet Union wasn't a constant subject but I feel like there was an underlying anxiety about it during that period and when I think about movies like The Day After and Wargames I can't help but remember those utterly useless drills they had us do in school to give us the illusion that hiding underneath our desks was going to protect us from a nuclear blast.

Also, I had a clown doll very similar to the one in Poltergeist so that immediately had to go after seeing that movie at 10 years old.
