Right after I started at my former company in late 2015, the new VP of Technology decided to get rid of all the mismatched dual monitor setups for the devs and replace them with 34" ultrawide monitors. After a few weeks I thought the experience was so much better that I had to convince my wife to change our setup at home. She complained at first, but was convinced after a few weeks since she mostly worked from home. She even convinced her new company to buy her one since we're both working at home for the past year. The real estate gained is more useful to me than higher resolution.
