Of course I read the article. It's the same explanation I've been hearing for years. You can't simply say "I don't mean to offend" or "You should not be offended" while ignoring people telling you that your words offend them.

If you're spending more time explaining your intent than recognizing your impact then you really need to focus on better ways to communicate.
