I think for a lot of us, Black/White bi-racial people were just Black. White people didn't identify with them or claim them in any way so they identified themselves how our society identified them. But it seems to me that since Obama was president, White people have started to insist that Black/White bi-racial people are half White. It comes across as hypocritical and it certainly doesn't separate them from being treated as Black people.

It is unfortunate they we're still arguing about these things. But I think in a couple of generations, when a significantly larger percentage of Americans identify as bi-racial, the Black / White identify will take on an entirely new mearning.
