I don't think CRT as it was originally presented at the graduate level should be taught as part of grade school or high school curriculums. Unfortunately, it has become this blanket term for anything being taught that upsets White conservatives and we can't have a real conversation about it because we can't agree on what it is or how it may or may not be taught in grade school.

I absolutely do think that social and history lessons should include the harsh realities of our past and present. We can't afford for our children to be ignorant of such things if we are to progress as a country. I don't think that means that children need to be made to feel guilty or ashamed about things they took no part in. But that doesn't mean that they should not feel anything about it. We can't just pretend that bad things didn't happen or that bad things still don't happen. We need to do a better job of teaching empathy for those with different experiences so we don't just end up with yet another generation of people who are only concerned about themselves and people like them.
