I don't see how this is any different than being in Microsofts garden or Google's garden. If you are entrenched in any of these ecosystems there is going to be some pain to move. And Apple is no more "walled" than the others. You just listed all these non-Apple alternatives that can be used within their ecosystem. No one feels trapped there and all the Android users thinking they are roaming the galaxy untethered are fooling themselves.
