I don't miss magsafe all that much and I definitely appreciate having more options to charge my 2016 MBP than the expensive Apple chargers. I don't see how they would implement magsafe with USB-C that wouldn't be clunky like the third-party solutions that already exist. But if they put the old one back and still allow you to charge with USB-C that would be fine. Personally, I think more people would prefer having an SD-card slot over magsafe. Maybe we'll get both.
