I agree that most people can't tell the difference between lossless and higher bitrate MP3/AAC. However, Apple should have offered lossless downloads years ago when they first introduced their version of FLAC. People who still actually like to own their music would appreciate a format that's not "compressed" and would have paid a small premium for it.
