I actually see it as being more responsible than selfish in a lot of cases these days. Younger people are simply recognizing that they cannot afford to have children. And not because they would rather have the latest iPhone and eat avocado toast every day, but because they know the cost of childcare and education is beyond their means.

As much as we admonish poor people for having too many children in our society we shouldn't admonish those who make the decision to not have children because they cannot provide the same quality of life that they or their parents had as children.
