How can you say racism is irrelevant? It can only be irrelevant to those not affected or have the privilege to ignore it. It certainly is not irrelevant to those who still experience it, to those denied opportunity because of it, to those who have lost their lives because of it. We're finally hearing some noise about how Asian people have been living in fear over the past year since our former president painted a target on their backs. And that racism is not new, it's just more heightened recently.
I don't think anyone is teaching Black children that America or White people hate them. But it's more of a disservice to allow them to be naive about the hatred that does still exist and is very much relevant to them.
