Gates is one person who I'd believe truly appreciates the open nature and flexibility of Android. But most people who say this probably just hate Apple and don't come anywhere close to customizing their phones the way they claim to prefer. And they're certainly not sideloading apps or loading operating systems not provided by the phone manufacturer.
