For a brief moment I felt blindsided since I just got an M2 Max in the spring. But the more I read about people still being more than satisfied with their M1 systems, the better I feel about keeping mine for 7 years like my last Macbook Pro. But I am concerned about how Apple can keep the pace with these chips.
