But she has presented the trauma passed on from her ancestors that affects her psyche in these moments. It's certainly something I and many others can relate to. As I read this article it brought to mind all the times I've played chicken with people, specifically White people, and wondered i they really thought I was supposed to move out of their way. I think a lot of minorities, especially those with parents or grandparents who lived through times in this country where they really had to show themselves inferior to White people can relate and can give countless examples of times where White people were rude and they couldn't help but think it had to do with race. And when that White person is jut aghast that a Black or Brown person call them out on their behavior it just cements the idea.
To casually dismiss this experience just exemplifies the authors point that White people in generally never have to think about race and are of the opinion that minorities think about it took much. I suppose it's possible that a large portion of Black and Brown people have shared delusions. Or maybe most White people are just plain rude.
